Medigap Plan N
Medigap Plan N offers great coverage, including Part A and B coinsurance/copayments, Part A deductible, and more. Of the 10 supplement plans, how do you know if this one is right for you? Here is everything you need to know about Plan N.
Plan N Coverage
Plan N covers a lot of important costs and services, including:
- 100% of Part A Coinsurance & Hospital Costs
- 100% of Part B Coinsurance/Copayment
- 100% of the First 3 Pints of Blood for Transfusions
- 100% of Part A Hospice Care Coinsurance/Copayment
- 100% of Skilled Nursing Care Facility Coinsurance
- 100% of your Part A Deductible
- 80% of Foreign Travel Emergency Care
Rather than paying all of these costs out-of-pocket, Plan N covers it all.
Your Costs with Plan N
Under Original Medicare alone, there are limits to the amount of benefits you can receive in a single year. For instance, with Part A, you only have 100 covered hospital days—beyond that, you are paying out-of-pocket. But, with Plan N, 100% of it will be covered.
The same goes for everything else on the list. Blood transfusions cost $2-300 per pint—so, with Plan N, you already know that $6-900 of it will be covered.
The amount you pay for Plan N depends on a few factors, including provider, location, and rating system. It is important, then, that you shop around in your area to get the best possible price on it.
How it Compares to Other Options
One of the most confusing Medigap plan comparisons is Plan N versus Plan D. Both offer the exact same amount of coverage for the same things. So what’s the difference? Well, with Plan N, you may have some small extra charges.
This includes a copayment of up to $20 for some doctor office visits and a copayment of up to $50 for emergency room visits (that don’t require admission to a hospital). This small difference may seem insignificant, but it means that your premium rate for Plan N is less than Plan D.
If you want to save a bit of cash on a monthly basis, then, Plan N is a better option. But if you would rather everything be completely covered, Plan D could work for you.
