Choosing a Medicare Plan
Medicare isn’t as simple as you might think. There are many different options for how you can arrange your benefits, therefore it would be wise to consult an insurance professional. If you plan to enroll in Medicare soon, this is the advice Bartock Insurance Solutions has for you.
Consider Whether You Want Medicare Advantage or Original Medicare
A major decision you will need to make is whether you are happy with Original Medicare or you prefer Medicare Advantage. Both Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage offer Part A hospital insurance and Part B medical insurance, but the way the plans work is very different. While Original Medicare benefits are administered directly by the Social Security Administration, Medicare Advantage is offered by private insurers. Medicare Advantage plans also have the advantage of allowing you to access additional benefits that are not available with Original Medicare.
Medicare Advantage vs Original Medicare
If you want additional coverage with Original Medicare, you will need to enroll in external insurance policies, such as Medicare Supplement Insurance or Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage. With Medicare Advantage, prescription drug coverage may be included in your policy, and Medicare Supplement Insurance isn’t an option. Advantage plans may also include extra benefits that you may need, such as dental, vision, and hearing coverage.
